Moves to revive declining Greek studies programs
Greece is taking steps to reverse the decline of Greek studies chairs abroad, which have dropped by nearly 50% in 13 years, from 344 chairs in 2006 to about 200 in 2019.
This reduction, largely due to waning interest in the humanities amid a global shift toward technology-focused education, has had a negative impact on promoting Greek culture and diplomacy.

Before take off GCM meets with Greek Youth Camp
On Wednesday evening, the Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) welcomed 18 enthusiastic participants from their inaugural Youth Camp to The Greek Center for a final briefing. The camp, which will run from 23 September to 01 October, is an initiative of the GCM and the Prefecture of Attiki. It has been designed to offer a comprehensive exploration of Greek culture, history, and heritage.

Monuments to the Onasis era of Olympic Airways
The Mount Olympus, an old Boeing 727 of Olympic Airways, which was founded by Greek shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis in 1957, has been dismantled 24 years after it stopped flying so that it could be moved to its new home, on Vouliagmenis Avenue, a few meters from the Elliniko metro stop.

Dendias: Voluntary enlistment of women in armed forces under consideration
The Defence Ministry is considering the activation of a law for the enlistment of Greek women in the military, Defence Minister Nikos Dendias told a Hellenic National Defence General Staff event for International Women's Day on Friday.
"A large, overwhelming majority of Greek society believes in an army of the citizens, believes strongly in the armed citizen," said Dendias.

Given how many millennia modern Athens is removed from the apex of Hellenism, imagining Greece as a civilization state implies that its best days are behind it.
