Prince Andrew to take on queen’s beloved corgis

A key question around Britain's royal succession was resolved on Sunday when it emerged scandal-hit Prince Andrew and his ex-wife will look after Queen Elizabeth II's corgi dogs after her death.

The prince and his former spouse Sarah Ferguson will take on Muick and Sandy following the queen's death at Balmoral on Sept. 8 aged 96, Andrew's spokesman said.

Maggie the Kelpie, an Australian dog that was thought to be the oldest in the world, has died at the age of 30 leaving her owner devastated. She was the best friend of Victorian dairy farmer Brian McLaren who confirmed the news, saying that Maggie passed away peacefully on Sunday night. The beloved dog was still wandering around the dairy in Woolsthorpe, west of Melbo

Give a black dog a home (cute canine photos)

Photographer Fred Levy began the “Black Dog Project” when he first heard the stats that show that dark-colored dogs have less chance of adoption than their lighter-colored canines. His mission was to find as many black dogs as possible and photograph these. Some were found via Facebook, others were found at dog shelters.

Vreni, the first avalanche rescue dog certified in Romania

The city of Caransebes can boast an avalanche response team complete with the first avalanche rescue dog to have earned his certification in Romania. It's actually a female Belgian Malinois, "her name is Vreni, and she's 20 months old. This is the first dog born, trained, tested and certified in Romania for avalanche search and rescue.
