A state of alert has been raised within the Greek Police (ELAS) following the arrest of a man from Turkey on Chios for weapons possession and forgery.

The municipal council of the island of Chios, in the eastern Aegean, rejected a government proposal to set up a new, closed pre-departure center for migrants on the island, in a marathon session that ended at midnight on Monday.
According to the plan discussed, the centre would be created at the 15th kilometre of the Chios-Volissos road.

Iraqi girl, 2, killed in road accident outside Chios camp
An Iraqi girl aged two was killed on Monday after being struck by a car outside the Vial migrant camp on the eastern Aegean island of Chios.
The accident, which involved a car belonging to a non-government organization operating at the camp, occurred shortly after noon.
An investigation was under way to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.

Search continues for missing Greek-American off Oinousses
Greek coast guard vessels, one Navy ship and several privately-owned boats on Sunday were continuing for a second day the search for a 22-year-old Greek-American who went missing after the boat he was on with three more passengers capsized off the Oinousses complex of islands in the eastern Aegean on Saturday morning.
Two charged with negligence for starting fires
Two people were arrested on Wednesday on charges of negligence that led to fires on Tuesday on the eastern Aegean island of Chios and in Lamia, central Greece.
Police said the 48-year-old man arrested on Chios was doing agricultural work in the area of Kalamoti when the fire started.
