Sexual Transmission Dominates New HIV Cases in Bulgaria
The Ministry of Health in Bulgaria revealed that a staggering 90.8% of newly reported HIV cases were transmitted sexually, marking a concerning trend on World AIDS Day. Since the start of this year, 228 new HIV-positive cases have emerged, totaling 4,276 cases between 1986 and November 2023.

AIDS patients in Turkey rise 522 percent in 10 years
The number of recorded HIV/AIDS patients in Turkey has increased 522 percent over the course of the last decade, bringing the total number of AIDS patients in the country to 11,906, according to a member of Turkey's National Health Commission.
Streinu-Cercel: There are 12,732 HIV/AIDS patients in Romania, 524 of them new cases this year
The number of the Romanian HIV/AIDS patients has reached 12,732, with 524 of them being new cases found this year, Professor Doctor Adrian Streinu-Cercel, the manager of Bucharest-based Matei Bals National Institute of Infectious Diseases announced at a conference on Wednesday.
AIDS deaths fall by third in decade: UN
Global AIDS-related deaths and new HIV infections have fallen by over a third in a decade, the United Nations said Wednesday as it voiced hope of wiping out the killer disease.
The global effort to beat the pandemic has made huge strides, though the battle is far from over with 35 million people still living with HIV worldwide, said Michel Sidibe, head of UNAIDS.
