Pole vault: Tina Šutej finishes fifth at Tokyo Olympics
Tokyo – Slovenia’s Tina Šutej has placed fifth in the women’s pole vault at the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo. The 32-year-old national record holder registered a clearance of 4.5 metres in Thursday’s final and then failed to clear the height of 4.7 metres to join the top four. US Katie Nageotte won gold as she cleared the final height of 4.9 metres.
Kyriakopoulou wins bronze in pole vault at European indoors
Nikol Kyriakopoulou won a bronze medal in the women's pole vault at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow Sunday, bringing Greece's final medal tally to four (1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze).
Russian Anzhelika Sidorova won the event with a leap of 4.85 meters, but she competed as one of "Authorized Neutral Athletes" since Russia is officially banned.
Stefanidi wins Athens Street Pole Vault event
Olympic champion Katerina Stefanidi won the 6th Athens Street Pole Vault on Friday, held at Syntagma Square in central Athens, clearing 4.80 meters.
This performance was her best for the season so far, as she had only managed 4.64 m. until Friday.
Stefanidi, also the world champion, tried to break her own national record of 4.91 m. but failed three times to clear 4.92 m.
