Ljubljana gets more stumbling stones for Holocaust victims
Ljubljana – Another seven stumbling stones or Stolpersteine will be laid in Ljubljana on Thursday to honour the memory of the city’s Jewish citizens who were torn from their homes during WWII and taken to concentration camps in Europe. The opening of an exhibition on the story of a Ljubljana Jewish family will follow the stone-laying ceremony.
Today is the International Day for Fascism and Anti-Semitism
After the Nazis came to power in Germany in 1933, Jews were subjected to increasingly discriminatory treatment accompanied by organised violence. On November 9th 1938, the Nazis started a pogrom against the Jews. Synagogues were set on fire, according to unitedagainstracism.org
Police arrest 93 suspects in series of raids
The Interior Ministry (MUP) said on Monday that 93 people were arrested in a large-scale operation targeting perpetrators of economic crimes and corruption.
The MUP said that the arrests took place in several separate raids across the country, and that criminal complaints have been filed in regular procedure against 38 additional persons.

Japan deputy PM Aso in hot waters
Japan's gaffe-prone deputy prime minister Taro Aso yesterday retracted comments in which he cited Adolf Hitler, but insisted he did not mean to praise the Nazi leader.
Aso used Hitler -- responsible for the death of millions of Jews and others during World War II -- in a bizarre reference about the importance of leaving a legacy in politics.

Iranian migrant drowns off island of Lesvos
A 27-year-old Iranian migrant drowned on Sunday off the northern coast of Lesvos as he was swimming with a group of compatriots, Coast Guard officers said.
According to the accounts of witnesses, the Iranian man appeared to lose consciousness while swimming at a depth of just one meter.

Czech TV series causes uproar, depicting life under Nazi occupation
A new series in the Czech state-owned TV channel is causing an uproar. The show portrays living conditions and dangers experienced by many people during the Nazi occupation.
In the summer of 2014 and over a course of two months, seven members of three generations of a Czech family lived a life of a different era.

Germany must examine the war reparations issue towards Greece deeply, stated German President Joachim Gauck, in an interview to German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung.
