The Cappadocia region has recently been drawing more interest from foreign tourists thanks to its fairy chimneys, valleys covered with natural rock formations, historical rock-carved monasteries, underground cities and hot-air balloon tours, and it is set to revive Turkey's tourism sector.

The number of tourists that have visited Cappadocia, a central Anatolian destination famous for its underground cities, houses carved into rock and volcanic cones called “fairy chimneys,” increased around 48 percent in 2017, due to a boost from Russia.

In one of Turkey's most significant tourism centers, Cappadocia, Devrent Valley, also known as the Imaginary Valley, draws the attention of tourists with its interesting rock formations, which look like various figures.

The tourism crisis has naturally also hit one of Turkey's first touristic regions, Cappadocia. I was in Cappadocia to see a close friend's newly-bought house in one of its villages, and to participate in the Cappadox Festival.
 

Winter tourism needs to be diversified in Cappadocia, which is famous for fairy chimneys, rock-carved boutique hotels, underground cities and natural rock formations, according to local tourism representatives.
