The international community cannot leave the Syria tragedy on Turkey's shoulders, the Turkish U.N. envoy said on March 3, as the Syrian war nears its 10th anniversary.

The Syrian Constitutional Committee will continue its discussions on Nov.25, a U.N. special envoy said on Nov. 8.

The U.N. envoy for Syria says he will host senior officials from Turkey, Iran, and Russia in Geneva next week to discuss efforts to create a constitutional committee that could help one day bring peace to the war-devastated country.

Syria and Russia on Wednesday accused the United States of lying about chemical weapons attacks in the Syrian conflict as a way of derailing efforts to bring an end to the fighting.

Russia, Syria, and Iran warned the United States against launching new strikes on Syria and called for an international probe into a chemical attack there earlier this month.

War as we know it between states has taken a downward trend in recent years, while civil wars and terrorist attacks have become the new normal in international relations. This change in the characteristics of the conflicts has not produced security and stability in the international system, but if anything, it has made the world less secure.

The Russian military on Oct. 6 strongly warned the United States against striking the Syrian army, noting that its air defense weapons in Syria stand ready to fend off any attack.
The statement underlined high tensions between Moscow and Washington after the collapse of a U.S.-Russia-brokered Syria truce and the Syrian army's offensive on Aleppo backed by Russian warplanes.

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said Jan. 18 that it was not yet possible to confirm that a planned U.N.-organized Jan. 25 peace meeting on Syria would take place involving the Syrian government and opposition, saying that it was up to the United Nations to confirm it.
