Plane’s tire catches fire on landing in southern province
The tire of a Turkish Airlines plane that took off from Istanbul burst into flames while landing on the runway of the airport in the southern province of Hatay.
Overheating in one of the landing gears of the plane led the tire to explode, said Yahya Üstün, an officer from Turkish Airlines, adding that the firefighters immediately intervened to extinguish the fire.

Kosovo pupils found their classrooms empty of teachers on the first day of new school year, after the teachers' union acted on warnings to strike to force the government to increase their salaries.

Some 1,200 cyclists compete in 1st Ankara Gran Fondo
The Turkish capital Ankara has hosted its first Gran Fondo, a long-distance road bike race for amateur cyclists with or without a license, in which some 1,200 cyclists from 25 countries competed on two different tracks.
The races, conducted with the support of the country's Youth and Sports Ministry and Ankara Governor's Office, started in Anıttepe and ended at Lake Mogan.
Istanbul Airport one of busiest in the world
Istanbul Airport ranked fifth in the Official Aviation Guide's (OAG) world's busiest airports list for August with a total 3.8 million seats, climbing up from 14th place.
It also moved from the 9th spot to rank 5th in the busiest international airports list by seats.
