Workers at the downtown Athens headquarters of social security fund EFKA have shut the doors to the building and are refusing to conduct any business with the public since operating hours began at 7 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

According to the latest readings of the air quality monitoring station in Sofia's Druzhba residential districts, the concentration of fine dust particles in the air there is the highest in Sofia, according to Standart News. 

The information has been announced by the Executive Agency for Environment (EAE), as quoted by the Focus news agency.

The supply of heating was suspended in six major residential areas in the Bulgarian capital Sofia on Wednesday, leaving several hundred thousands people in the cold.
