Hybrid electric buses

Road Transport SA - known by its Greek acronym OSY - will lease 300 buses to replace old ones, according to the €201.6 million-plus-VAT contract signed Thursday with NBG Leasing.

Delivery of 30% of those buses will be made by the end of the year, with the rest expected in early 2025.

By mid-June, at the latest, all 110 electric buses will be in operation by mid-June

The electric buses will be circulating city streets by May – Trial runs are currently underway and have been successful

The first Greek bus running on hydrogen was tested on regular schedules on Wednesday by OSY SA, which runs the buses and trolleys for the Transport for Athens (OASA Group).

The Urbino 12 Hydrogen was provided to OSY by Solaris Hellas SA following an open invitation by the Infrastructure & Transport Ministry.

As part of the drive to introduce eco-friendly public transport, a second electric bus, which will be tested in Athens with passengers on board, was delivered to Attica's bus and trolley bus operator, OSY on Friday. As of Saturday and for two months, the Solaris Urbino 12 Electric demo bus will transport passengers free of charge between Pangrati and Kypseli.

The government is in talks with Solaris Bus & Coach SA over an investment of up to 1 billion euros in West Macedonia for the production of hydrogen fuel from renewable energy sources to be used in public transportation.

For the first time on the streets of Sofia, a hybrid bus will be tested. This was announced to journalists by Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova at the presentation of the vehicle made by Solaris.
 

Sofia will enjoy a bit of cleaner air after August 2, when nearly 30 old diesel buses running on the northern lines of metropolitan public transport will be replaced by new Eco buses. Reports SEGA.
