Pressing on with his plans to form a new government without holding fresh elections, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci on Thursday asked the former junior governing party, the Democratic League of Kosovo, LDK, Isa Mustafa, to name a potential mandator to form a new administration.

Vetevendosje and the Democratic League of Kosovo, LDK, resumed their talks on Monday in a bid to reach a coalition agreement in Kosovo - which still has no government.

However, many question whether the two old rivals can clear away all the animosities from the past.

Opposition parties in Kosovo on May 5 filed a motion of no confidence in the government, in a new attempt to bring down Prime Minister Isa Mustafa's coalition government, RFE/RL reports.

Shkuri Buja, an MP with the ruling Kosovo Democratic Party, PDK, which is currently in government with its junior partner, the Democratic League of Kosovo, LDK, told BIRN on Tuesday that the break-up of the coalition is near.

Kosovo's Minister of Trade and Industry, Hykmete Bajrami, has said that Kosovo is experiencing a fall in direct foreign investment, FDI.

This drop is down to an unfavourable investment environment and lingering administrative barriers that deter foreign investors, according to the minister.

Serb minister dismissed from Pristina government

PRISTINA -- The minister for returns and communities in the Kosovo government, Aleksandar Jablanovic, has said that he learned about his dismissal from the media.

As Isa Mustafa, leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, LDK, previously the strongest opposition party in Kosovo, took the post of a Prime Minister on Tuesday, some expressed concern that the inclusion of the two major parties in government was unhealthy for democracy.
