Istanbul Kuleli Military High School's garden pits ministries against each other

The garden of the now shut-down Kuleli Military High School in Istanbul has pitted the Defense Ministry against the Culture Ministry as the latter insists on acquiring a part of the 180-decare garden in addition to the building itself but the Defense Ministry denies the request. 

Death toll in traffic accidents across Turkey rises to 100 in 9th day of public holiday

The death toll from traffic accidents across Turkey rose to 100 on the 9th day of the extended 10-day long public holiday.

A total 439 people have been injured in road accidents during the same period. 

A total of 14 people were killed and 55 were injured in road accidents on Sept. 3 alone, bringing the death toll across Turkey from 86 to 100 in one day.

The death toll from traffic accidents across Turkey rose to 100 on the 9th day of the extended 10-day long Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) public holiday.

Deputy PM Bozdağ appointed as new gov't spokesperson

Former Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ, who was appointed as deputy prime minister last week in a government reshuffle, has been appointed as the new government spokesperson. 

Bozdağ held his first press conference as the spokesperson following a cabinet meeting after the reshuffle. Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım named legislator Abdulhamit Gül as the new justice minister. 

Turkish military to establish unit to clear Gülenist members

A special unit in the Turkish Armed Forces is slated to be formed to clear members of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) from the military, daily Milliyet reported on July 20.

The main duty of the unit will be to conduct personnel security investigations on military staff.
