Athens metro expected to get free Wi-Fi in September
Passengers in some of Athens' metro stations are expected to get a long-delayed access to the internet in September, when the first Wi-Fi connections will become operational.
Internet will be available at the metro stations but not inside the tunnels, the Digital Governance Ministry has said. It was not clear which stations will be the ones with free internet access.
Explosive device goes off in Ilioupoli
A homemade explosive device went off at the entrance of an apartment building in the Ilioupoli district of southern Athens early Monday morning.
Two gas canisters were used in the pre-dawn blast in Louvari Street which caused material damage but no injuries.

Police officer accused of armed robberies remanded
A police officer who was arrested last week on charges of committing at least 11 robberies was remanded in custody on Monday after appearing before a prosecutor and investigative magistrate.
The 29-year-old suspect is accused of robbing eight gas stations and kiosks in the Athens areas of Agia Paraskevi, Halandri and Ilioupoli since November last year.

Crooked cop arrested in Athens
Police in the northern Athens suburb of Agia Paraskevi arrested a 29-year-old colleague after he allegedly carried out two armed robberies, one at a gas station in the western suburb of Peristeri and the other at a kiosk in Galatsi, near central Athens, making off with 690 euros.

Sparks fly over illegal chapel on Mt Hymettus
The unlicensed construction of a chapel in a forested area of Mt Hymettus in southeastern Athens has triggered legal action from irate local authorities.
The chapel is being built around an older one and work began last summer despite a law suspending construction on the mountain.

Police seizes large cocaine haul in drug trafficking ring bust
Anti-narcotics officers announced Thursday they arrested three people and seized 1905 kilos of cocaine in a major drug bust in Athens.
The ring members were identified as one Croatian and two Albanian nationals.
