Improvised explosive devices

Urban guerrillas had gone silent since 2018. That is, until last December, when a bomb was placed outside the headquarters of the riot police in Athens last December.

That one failed to detonate; that was not the case with another bomb that exploded across the street from the Labor Ministry in central Athens on February 3, shattering the windows on the ministry's bottom two floors.

One person was injured in an explosion in Austin, Texas.

The victim is a 30-year-old man and is in serious condition but not life-threatening.

The bomb exploded in a charity store in the southern part of the city. However, according to the police, this incident is not related to the series of bomb blasts that killed two people since the beginning of the month.

Police fear the Manchester suicide bomber may have made a second bomb, after raids on his home uncovered a stash of chemical explosives, it has been reported, The Independent writes.

Police in Greece are contacting the targets of eight parcel bombs addressed to European finance officials and businesses in various European countries, after the devices were discovered and neutralized at a postal sorting office near Athens.

The Hellenic Police was on Thursday coordinating with ELTA, the Greek postal service, in a bid to ensure that no further dangerous packages leave the country after parcel bombs were sent from Greece to German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble and the offices of the International Monetary Fund in Paris.

New York authorities said Sept. 19 that they are seeking a 28-year-old man in connection with a bombing in the city over the weekend that injured 29 people.
