"I've never been more angry than at the way the Greek crisis was covered by the German media. It was so cheap. Imagine if foreign media covered Germany in the same way. That wasn't journalism, it was filth. Pure incitement of hatred. 'Sell your islands' might sound like an attractive headline, but it's sheer propaganda.

Hooligans linked to officer’s death brought before prosecutor

Sixty-seven Olympiakos club hooligans arrested for their involvement in the fatal injury of the riot policeman Giorgos Lygeridis and in at least 14 more cases appeared before a prosecutor on Tuesday. 

Thirty-one-year-old Lygeridis was fatally struck by a naval flare last December outside a stadium during a volleyball match in Athens.

Eleven far-right MPs charged with electoral fraud 

The Prosecutor of the Supreme Court has brought charges of electoral fraud against eleven lawmakers of the far-right Spartiates (Spartans) party, Kathimerini understands, in a case that could affect the parliamentary seats of the other parties. 

The charges do not include party leader Vassilis Stigas.

Israel must prevent genocidal acts in Gaza: UN court

The U.N. top court on Friday said Israel must prevent genocidal acts in Gaza and facilitate "urgently needed" humanitarian aid into the besieged territory, handing down rulings in a case that has drawn global attention.

The court urged Israel to refrain from any possible genocidal acts as it presses its military operation in the Gaza Strip, but stopped short of ordering a ceasefire.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, marked a historic precedent on 11 January 2024, as the highest judicial body of the United Nations began considering the claims of the Republic of South Africa (RSA) in its lawsuit against Israel alleging the commission of "the crime of genocide" against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
