Ljubljana – Vaccination against the flu will be free of charge for all Slovenian residents with health insurance this season after it was already free the last two seasons to better fight the coronavirus epidemic.

A significant decline in the number of COVID-19 infections in the next two or three weeks is expected, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has expressed.

"The number of daily infections has decreased to some 10,000," Koca said while talking to journalists on Aug. 23.

According to the minister, the hospitalization numbers are also on the decline.

China has confirmed the first known human case of the H3N8 strain of avian flu, but health authorities say there is a low risk of widespread transmission among people.

H3N8 is known to have been circulating since 2002 after first emerging in North American waterfowl. It is known to infect horses, dogs and seals, but has not previously been detected in humans.

"Currently, the situation is epidemic. Every negative test is questionable in itself." This was said on bTV by Dr. Nedyalko Kalachev, owner of a chain of laboratories.

According to Dr Sekler, it can be noticed that "the virus has crossed two thirds of the way and that everything is on the right track for now".
Sekler told RTS that the winter period is generally the season of respiratory diseases, and he estimated that children should go to kindergartens and schools.

"We expect a double epidemic in our country - from influenza and coronavirus. Maybe we will have a more severe flu season." Such a forecast was made in the studio of "Sabudi Se" on Nova TV by Georgi Popov, an expert on infectious diseases at Sofiamed University Hospital. According to him, the health system will withstand the pressure.

1. What flu strains will attack us this year?

It is assumed that in the 2021/2022 season, influenza viruses will be circulating, which are similar to the viruses included in the influenza vaccines recommended by the WHO for the countries of the Northern Hemisphere, namely:

∙ A / Victoria / 2570/2019 (H1N1) pdm09;

∙ A / Cambodia / e0826360 / 2020 (H3N2);
