Google Doodle marks Labor Day

On May 1, as workers in many parts of the world enjoy a day off, Google's latest Doodle celebrates the history of Labor Day, also known as International Workers' Day.

The holiday originated in the late 19th century during the Industrial Revolution in the US and was established by the labor movement, which fought for the regulation of American work schedules and other worker rights.

Labor Day marked across Turkey

International Workers' Day, also known as May Day, has been marked by tens of thousands in rallies organized by labor unions, non-governmental organizations and political parties across Turkey.

The biggest crown gathered in Istanbul's Maltepe district to celebrate the day.

On Labour Day, unions critical of govt’s attitude to social dialogue

Ljubljana – President Borut Pahor hosted a Labour Day reception on Saturday at which the head of the ZSSS trade union association Lidija Jerkič said the holiday should be an opportunity to reflect on workers’ rights, and assessed that the government was ignoring social dialogue with trade unions. Many officials also marked the holiday with their messages.
