Police remand 9 in fear of violent Golden Dawn anniversary riots
Nine individuals were taken into police custody on Wednesday at Neo Iraklio, Attica as a precaution against violent riots given the 10th anniversary of the murder of two members of the far-right party Golden Dawn.
Despite a ban on gatherings that is in force until 6 a.m. on Thursday, a large number of people have gathered in the areas of Neo Iraklio and Nea Ionia.
ND branch in Athens suburb vandalized with paint
Vandals splashed paint on a local branch of ruling New Democracy in an Athens suburb in the early hours of Friday.
Police are investigating the incident, which was carried out by unknown assailants at around 2.30 a.m. against the Plapouta Street party office in Neo Iraklio, northeast Athens.

Four cars burned in northeastern Athens
Four cars were torched in the district of Neo Iraklio in northeastern Athens early Thursday morning, state-run news agency ANA-MPA reported.
The vehicles were parked at the corner of Irakliou and Matsoula streets and two of them belong to a company whose owner is known to authorities, police sorces told the news agency.

Prison fugitive caught east of Athens
A 50-year-old inmate who failed to return from a furlough more than two years ago was arrested on Wednesday in Spata, east of Athens, police said.
Police said the fugitive, Antonis Karamolengos, had been serving a life sentence for killing two police officers outside the headquarters of the capital's police in 1990, before violating furlough in March 2015

Bomb threat made against bank on Syntagma Square
Police on Tuesday cordoned off a large part of Syntagma Square in front of Parliament in Athens as they investigated a bomb threat.
An unidentified man called the offices of a newspaper shortly after 2 p.m. on Tuesday, warning that a bomb had been placed at a bank on Othonos Street and was rigged to go off an hour after the warning.
