In a ceremony that lasted around two hours on Thursday, in high-security measures and with the attendance of Albanian politicians from all main political parties, former US Vice President Mike Pence talked to members of the MEK, voicing his support for the Iranian dissident group.

"Iran, as the country with the longest coastline in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, has always supported free navigation in this region, contributing to the free passage of ships, which is very important to us. At the same time, we condemn all terrorist acts and attacks on merchant ships," the statement said.

Iran will no longer respect limits it agreed on its enriched uranium and heavy water stocks under a 2015 nuclear deal with major powers, officials said on Wednesday,  FocusNews reported.

The top diplomats from Russia and the European Union struggled April 24 to overcome deep rifts that have plunged ties to a post-Cold War low despite calling for closer cooperation.

The European Union approved the Iran nuclear deal with world powers on July 20, a first step towards lifting Europe's economic sanctions against Tehran that the bloc hopes will send a signal that the U.S. Congress will follow.
