Irrationality

Dionysis Simopoulos: The great guide on the journey of knowledge

Many times we discuss great scientists based on whether they were given a Nobel Prize, or if a subatomic particle is named after them.

Obviously, this also pays due respect to people who, with their work, really advanced scientific knowledge. They made great discoveries. They added to our knowledge.

Political reluctance

The opening on Thursday of Greece's first crematorium in Ritsona on the island of Evia serves as an example of the sometimes backward state of the country.

In Greece, a funerary custom which is anything but a novelty for most European countries became tangled up in a web of dogmatic beliefs that held it hostage to political reluctance for decades.

The new normal

We are growing accustomed to what can only be described irrational normality - and this is a very dangerous trend.

The real economy is, again, near breaking point and speculation about a Greek exit from the euro area, or Grexit, is back in the international headlines. Such an economic environment is extremely hostile to private enterprise.
