The Taliban said on Sept. 6 they had captured the last pocket of resistance in Afghanistan, the Panjshir Valley, as the top U.S. diplomat flies to Qatar to try and handle the aftermath of the chaotic American withdrawal.

Fighting between Afghanistan's resistance forces and the militants of the Taliban radical movement (outlawed in Russia) is raging on in various regions of the Panjshir, Parwan, and Baghlan Provinces, the Ashwaka news agency reported on Wednesday, citing sources. 

A resistance movement was formed in Panjshir Valley, the only province that extremists could not conquer.

Although both sides say they want a solution through negotiations, there is no progress when it comes to the fate of that strategic area, which is the biggest point of resistance to the Taliban who took control of Afghanistan.

Anti-Taliban leader Ahmad Massoud called on his troops to take up arms and claimed to be ready with the return of the Taliban.

Massoud also insisted on following in the footsteps of his father, Ahmad Shah Massoud, who was an anti-Taliban leader and was assassinated by Al-Qaeda nearly 20 years ago.

The Afghan Taliban tightened their territorial stranglehold around Kabul on Aug. 14, as refugees from the insurgents' relentless offensive flooded the capital and U.S. Marines returned to oversee emergency evacuations from Afghanistan.

AFP - A suicide bomber on a motorbike blew himself up near a convoy of gunmen commemorating the death anniversary of a famed resistance leader in Kabul on Sunday, killing at least seven people, officials said.

KABUL: 

A suicide bomber killed at least 14 people and wounded 60 at the entrance to Kabul international airport on Sunday, officials said, as scores gathered to welcome home Afghan Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum from exile.
