Double standards in the Western world
Everyone, except for a few fanatics, has condemned the terrorist attack in France. They have cried out loudly that they stand alongside people's right to live, freedom of thought, and freedom of speech.

The economics of radical religious terrorism
The Charlie Hebdo attack has led many to claim that - or at least question why - Islam is associated with terrorism. I would reverse the order of causality the question implies. We must first try to answer why there are so many terrorist organizations linked to radical Islam.

The deadly terrorist attack against the staff of satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo in Paris on Wednesday, which left 12 people dead, is clearly not a French problem and should be a cause for concern for everyone. We can safely say now that extremist Islamist terrorism has grown into a major threat for all of Europe.
