Palestinians took a seat among member states at the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday, a new right accorded to the delegation despite not being a full member of the body.

In May, an overwhelming majority of the General Assembly asserted that Palestinians deserved full membership, a move that has been blocked by the United States.

Israel's Foreign Minister Israel Katz said on Thursday the diplomatic status of Norwegian envoys to the Palestinian Authority would be revoked over Oslo's "anti-Israel behavior" since the Gaza war began last October.

"I ordered the termination of any representation on behalf of the Norwegian Embassy in Israel vis-a-vis the Palestinian Authority," Katz said in a statement.

Spain, Ireland and Norway are formally recognizing a Palestinian state on Tuesday in a decision slammed by Israel as a "reward" for Hamas more than seven months into the devastating Gaza war.

The three European countries believe their initiative has strong symbolic impact, which is likely to encourage others to follow suit.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced on Tuesday that Spain would initiate the process of recognizing a Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as reported by Reuters. Sanchez stated that the government would formally approve the recognition later in the day, encompassing the Gaza Strip and the West Bank within the borders until 1967.

The establishment of an independent, geographically and politically integrated Palestinian state is imperative for both regional and global peace, Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli has said.

Israel is set to summon ambassadors of countries that voted for full Palestinian U.N. membership "for a protest talk" on Sunday, a foreign ministry spokesman has said.

It came after the Palestinian Authority said it would "reconsider" its relationship with the United States after Washington vetoed the Palestinian membership bid earlier this week.

Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh has announced his resignation, along with his government, aiming to foster a broad consensus among Palestinians regarding the political landscape after the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a decisive statement yesterday, indicating Israel's intention to maintain full military control over all Palestinian territories, even in the event of a two-state solution. Quoted by DPA, Netanyahu's assertion underscores a firm stance on Israel's military presence in regions including the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

US President Joe Biden expressed that the "two-state" option for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is not an impossibility during a recent phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
