Cold wave to grip country, heavy rains lash Istanbul

Heavy rain caused significant disruptions and paralyzed daily life in the metropolis of Istanbul on Oct. 12, with a cold wave expected to sweep the nation, particularly after Oct. 25, according to data from the U.K.-based meteorology platform WXCharts.

Puddles formed on the roads in several parts of Istanbul due to torrential rains, causing traffic congestion and multiple accidents.

Turkish hammams see revival as youth, tourists embrace tradition

Hammams are experiencing a resurgence in Istanbul, becoming a favorite of both tourists and locals trying to reconnect with their traditions, experts on the Turkish bathhouses have said. 

"The last 15 years or so, I see that there's a huge uprise again, especially among the young people," said Elizabet Kurumlu, an Istanbul-based hammam expert and guide.

Teknofest welcomes 1.1 mln visitors

Türkiye technology event, TEKNOFEST, hosted in the southern city of Adana this year, attracted approximately 1.1 million visitors.

Spanning five days from Wednesday, TEKNOFEST featured workshops, competitions, airshows, seminars, and concerts.

The event alternates between various Turkish cities in even years and Istanbul in odd years.

Istanbul hosted a ceremony on Sunday to celebrate the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Türkiye.

The event took place at the Yenikapı station of the Marmaray railway, which runs beneath the Bosphorus Strait, linking the European and Asian parts of the city, a project completed by a Japanese-Turkish consortium.
