The tough week in the Euroleague has started triumphantly for the Greek teams, as Panathinaikos trounced hitherto joint leader Khimki in Athens and Olympiakos downed European champion Fenerbahce in Turkey.
On Tuesday the Greens eclipsed Khimki 93-65 at the Olympic Sports Hall with an outstanding all-around performance that gave the Russian team no chance on the night.

Greens defeat Real Madrid, but Galatasaray shocked Olympiakos
Panathinaikos saw off Euroleague leader Real Madrid on Thursday, while Olympiakos was upset at home by Galatasaray on Friday and is yet to clinch home advantage for the play-offs.
The Greens produced a great performance in offense to beat Real 88-82 at the Olympic Sports Hall in Athens and reach a 15-11 record that keeps them in fifth, two wins behind the top four.
Panathinaikos power forward Gist to face punishment for doping
Panathinaikos's American power forward James Gist is to face a sports judge for punishment after the National Anti-Doping Council announced Friday that a second test sample of the player showed positive for marijuana use.
Greek media speculated that the punishment for Gist will be hard as it is the second time in Greece that he has tested positive for a forbidden substance.

Panathinaikos came from behind to defeat European champion Maccabi Tel Aviv 83-76 in Athens on Tuesday in its opening game for the top-16 of the Euroleague.
Victory was crucial for Panathinaikos as it could hardly afford to lose its opening home game in this ever-so-tight group in the second stage of the competition.
