Nearly 50 percent of people believe in the existence of extraterrestrial life and want to establish contact with them. This shows a survey in 24 countries, which according to the authors explains somewhat the popularity of the Star Wars saga 40 years after the release of the first film of the series, Reuters reported.

Istanbul's Kad?köy municipality joins Star Wars mania, warns street vendors with Darth Vader

The Kad?köy Municipality on Istanbul's Asian coast has joined Star Wars mania, warning undocumented street vendors by sharing on its Twitter account a photo of a constable equipped with a Darth Vader mask and a light saber.

"We have increased the 'force' of our constabularies," the tweet said, as the root of the word "to strengthen" is "force" in the Turkish language.

A Jedi Church was spawned from the Star Wars series. The religion received press coverage following an international e-mail campaign in 2001 that urged people to write “Jedi” in response to their religion classificaiton on their country’s census. The majority were assumed to have claimed the faith as a joke, but there was enough of a rise to put Jediism on the map of world religions.
