Ancient jewelry unveiled for Erzurum Museum’s new series of annual exhibitions

Erzurum Museum has unveiled 175 artifacts, many of which have never been displayed before, including jewelry dating back 3,500 years, in an exhibition offering a window into various civilizations that lived in the region.

The exhibition is part of a broader effort by the Erzurum Museum Directorate to display more than 20,000 artifacts currently stored in its collection.

Archaeological museum presents the ‘last Aphrodites’

As part of its "Unseen Museum" program for showcasing some of the pieces kept in its massive storage spaces, the National Archaeological Museum of Athens is presenting the "The last Aphrodites," a small exhibition set that includes two ivory carvings and two fragments of Coptic textiles from Egypt of late antiquity.

Burglar breaks down wall to enter jewellery store 

A burglar broke into jewellery store in Omonoia Square, central Athens, early Thursday morning and took jewellery and watches valued at 50,000 euros.

The suspect is believed to have entered through an unsecured door in an adjacent cultural center, demolished the party wall and gained his way into the jewelry store. 

Spain seizes ancient gold jewelry stolen from Ukraine

 

Spanish police said on Oct. 23 they have seized centuries-old gold artefacts worth over 60 million euros ($64 million) that were stolen and taken out of Ukraine illegally.

The 11 pieces, including necklaces, bracelets and earrings, were displayed at a Kiev museum between 2009 and 2013, and were smuggled out of Ukraine before 2016, police said in a statement.
