BELGRADE - The Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) on Monday announced to the court's Appeal Chamber that it will appeal a verdict acquitting Vojislav Seselj of all charges of war crimes committed in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina during the wars there and expulsions of Croats from Serbia's Vojvodina province.

Chief Hague Prosecutor Serge Brammertz on Wednesday announced that his office had decided to appeal against the Seselj trial verdict.

The prosecution at the UN-backed war crimes court in The Hague will appeal against last week’s verdict acquitting Serbian Radical Party leader Vojislav Seselj of crimes against humanity.

A UN court has found Serbian political leader Vojislav Seselj not guilty of crimes against humanity and war crimes in the Balkan Wars of the 1990s.

The Hague-based institution has ruled that the defendant is not responsible for any of the nine counts in his indictment.

The Hague Tribunal (ICTY) said on Wednesday that the verdict in the war crimes trial of Vojislav Seselj will be announced on March 31, at 10:00 CET.

The accused will not be present during the reading of the verdict, the tribunal added.

Serbian Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic said on Wednesday he "does not know whether Vojislav Seselj will be in The Hague on March 31."

The Hague Tribunal has scheduled the reading of the verdict for that day in the Seselj war crimes trial.

Sainovic told reporters after he arrived at Belgrade airport late Wednesday that he was not guilty of war crimes but felt responsible for what happened during the conflicts in the 1990s.
