Former FinMin, mayor Valcov placed under preventive arrest for 23 days
The High Court of Cassation and Justice (Romania's Supreme Courte) placed former Finance Minister Darius Valcov under arrest pending trial, under charges of influence peddling perpetrated in his former capacity of mayor of Slatina.

Resignation of Sofia Investigative Service Head Rejected
Bulgaria's top judicial body has rejected the resignation of Petyo Petyov, who heads the Sofia Investigative Service.
The motion was tabled on Thursday morning by Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov, but was turned down by an overwhelming majority at the Supreme Judicial Council (VSS): 12-4, 2 abstained.
Vladimira Yaneva Resigns as Sofia City Court Chair
Vladimira Yaneva has resigned from the post of Chair of the Sofia City Court.
She keeps the post of a judge.
The resignation was submitted to the Supreme Judicial Council (VSS) at the end of the working day on Monday, according to the press office of the court.

Bulgaria's Supreme Judicial Council (VSS) has elected Tanya Raykovska interim Chair of the Supreme Court of Cassation (VKS).
Thursday is the last day in office of the incumbent, Lazar Gruev, and a new VKS Chair is to be elected on January 29, 2015.
During its Thursday sitting, VSS launched the procedure for the election of a successor of Gruev.
