Chilling footage from a Kentucky courtroom shows the moment Sheriff Sean Stines shot and killed Judge Kevin Mullins. The security camera video from the September 19 incident captures the 43-year-old Stines firing multiple shots at the 54-year-old Mullins, who attempted to hide behind his desk but was ultimately unsuccessful.
Albanian Watchdogs Protest Plan to Reduce Number of Courts
A new map drastically reducing the number of courts in the Albania, to address the shortage of judges caused by the vetting process and the overload of the justice system, has drawn criticism from rights watchdogs, which say it will reduce access to the courts. The High Judicial Council, HJC, and the Ministry of Justice proposed the map last December.
Judicial Council calls on Masleša to clarify graduation, bar exam
Ljubljana – The Judicial Council has urged Supreme Court judge Branko Masleša to provide an explanation about his law graduation diploma and the bar exam. This is after Masleša has been making headlines in some pro-government media about the level of education, and passing the bar exam a year earlier after graduation than possible under the law.
Court season extended to clear case backlog
In a bid to clear the backlog that has accumulated due to the shutdown of the country's court system and in anticipation of the easing of the lockdown next month, the government has drafted legislation for a mass write-off of cases that are considered less serious crimes and for which the law provides for sentences of up to one year in prison.

New Supreme Court President, Prosecutor to be picked by 30 June
The judiciary and the government are poised to pick the new Supreme Court Chief Justice and Prosecutor after the terms of Vasileios Peppas and Xeni Dimitriou, respectively, end on 30 June, at the end of the judicial year.
Peppas, age 71, whose term began in September, 2017, is retiring due to the age limit.
Ankara vows to reform judicial system in EU bid
The Turkish government pledges for further reform in judiciary with plans to reveal judicial reform strategy in January that will be action plan the next five years after having discussions with other stakeholders, Minister of Justice Abdülhamit Gül said on Dec. 11 after Reform Action Group meeting.

Macedonia to Scrap Disputed Judicial Council
Macedonia will soon scrap the controversial Council for Disciplinary Liability and Evaluation of Judges - which was introduced in 2015 under the former ruling VMRO DPMNE party - the new Justice Minister, Bilen Saljiji, said.
