Bulgaria to Support Irina Bokova's Nomination for UN Secretary-General

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov assured UNESCO's Director-General Irina Bokova that she can rely on the government's support for her nomination as UN Secretary-General on Friday.

Bokova was nominated by the government of Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski in June 2014, electronic daily Dnevnik reminds.

Several hostages were freed after French commandos stormed a Jewish supermarket in eastern Paris where an assailant was holed up on Friday.
      
After several explosions, police stormed the shop in Portes de Vincennes and several hostages exited the store shortly afterwards and were taken to safety.

Five people were killed, including the gunman, sources said.

Charlie Hebdo massacre survivors start work on new issue

Surviving employees of Charlie Hebdo, the French satirical newspaper that lost its top staff to gunmen in a Paris attack this week, started work on a new issue Jan. 9 in premises loaned by the newspaper Liberation.

Several people associated with the publication were seen going into Liberation's offices in central eastern Paris.

The head of Montenegro's Islamic community, Rifat Fejzic, on Thursday condemned the Islamist terror attack in Paris, which claimed the lives of 12 people.

At the same time, he criticized the cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed that were the alleged reason for the attack on the Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine.
