‘Kültepe excavations should carry on for minimum 5,000 years’
The director of the excavations at the Kültepe Kaniş-Karum Mound in the Central Anatolian province of Kayseri has estimated that it would take 5,000 years to unearth all the historical artifacts under the ground.

Lion’s jawbone found in Kültepe
This year's excavations in the ancient site of Kültepe, located in the Central Anatolian province of Kayseri, have unearthed a lion's jawbone dating back 4,000 years.
The head of the excavations, Ankara University archeology department lecturer Professor Fikri Kulakoğlu stated that they found many animal bones and big logs in the basement of a large structure in the area in 2021.

Goddess statue unearthed in central Turkey
Turkish archeologists in Kültepe have unearthed a goddess statue, claiming it to be "the biggest" so far from the Early Bronze Age in Anatolia.
"We are happy to have found a 45-centimeter-high [17 inches] artifact, a statue. This is a very special piece," Fikri Kulakoğlu, a professor from the Ankara University and head of the excavation team, told Anadolu Agency on Sunday.
