Historical hammam hosts contemporary artworks
Muse Contemporary, an art foundation hosting exhibitions in different venues around Turkey, is showcasing South African artist Michael Singer's sculpture and installation Bennu Statis at the Küçük Mustafa Paşa Hammam/Turkish Bath. The exhibition is organized with the Culture and Tourism Ministry, South Africa's Ankara Embassy and the Fatih Municipality.

Afro-Turks celebrate traditional fest with crowd-pulling cortege
Afro-Turks living in the Aegean province of İzmir have celebrated their traditional festival, Dana Bayramı (Calf Feast), with an event held by local authorities.
As part of the opening ceremony of the festival, Afro-Turks gathered on Kıbrıs Şehitleri Caddesi, which is the most popular and busiest street in the port city, marched and danced in their traditional clothes.
Aegean Sea island for sale for $4 million
A 56-acre island, known as Küçük Orak Island off the coast of the Aegean province of Muğla, was put up for sale for 125 million Turkish Liras ($18 million).
There are 350 olive trees and a villa on the island, which is a first-degree natural protected area without zoning status.

Turkey names its celestial objects 'Anadolu' and 'Göktürk'
Turkey has chosen the names for a far-flung planet and its local star, said a Turkish astronomer on Dec. 17.
In June, Turkey got the naming rights to the star known as WASP-52 as well as its exoplanet, WASP-52-B, under a campaign by the International Astronomical Union (IAU).

Famous Turkish poet Derman İskender Öven, who is known as Küçük İskender, died July 2 at the age of 55.

Four dead after explosion at paint factory in Turkey’s Bursa
Four people were killed and five were injured on the morning of Nov. 8 after an explosion in a steam generator at a paint factory, in the Gürsu district of the northwestern Turkish province of Bursa, Governor İzzettin Küçük has stated.

Missing persons' panel in Cyprus finds 1,061 bodies
Some 1,061 missing people have been unearthed in the past 10 years in Cyprus, while around 700 of the bodies have been identified and handed over to their families, according to a Turkish Cypriot member of the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) in Cyprus.
