Olympic sailors arrive in Athens from all over the world
Sailors from all over the world have been arriving in the coastal suburb of Kalamaki in Athens in recent days to compete for qualification for the Olympic Games sailing events in Marseille in the summer.
Tourists evacuated as fire nears Zakynthos resort
A wildfire in progress on the island of Zakynthos has led authorities to evacuate some exposed houses on the village of Keri, in the southern part of the island, as well as 120 tourists staying at a hotel there.
The tourists were taken by bus to another hotel, in the nearby resort of Kalamaki.

More buildings condemned in wake of Zakynthos quake
Inspectors said on Monday that 144 of the 268 buildings that have been so far assessed in the wake of a 6.4 magnitude quake on the Ionian island of Zakynthos have been declared unsafe. Another 124 were declared temporarily unsafe.
Damage to Zakynthos buildings after strong quake assessed
Inspectors said on Saturday that 120 of the 250 buildings that were damaged two weeks ago by the 6.4 magnitude quake on the Ionian island of Zakynthos have been declared unsafe.
Most of the damaged buildings are in the regions of Kalamaki, Laganas, Lithakia, Keri, Mahairado and Lagopodo.

Parents appeal for leads in son's hit-and-run death
The parents of a 14-year-old victim of a hit and run on southern Athens's busy Poseidonos Avenue appealed to the public for information on Sunday.
The boy, whose full name has no been made public, was hit by an oncoming car on the Glyfada-bound side of the coastal highway early on Friday evening after leaving the Kalamaki Nautical Club.

Footbridges to be built over busy Athens roads
Six footbridges will be constructed over dangerous road crossings in Athens, the Infrastructure Ministry announced on Friday.
Minister Christos Spirtzis signed off on the 13-million-euro project and announced a tender.
