Karpowership has announced that it signed a memorandum of intent (MoI) with Brazil's Petrobras to combine their respective expertise in the natural gas and power sectors.

Turkey's Karpowership, which provides electricity to Lebanon from two barges, said on May 14 it was shutting down supplies over payment arrears and a legal threat to its vessels amid the country's economic crisis.

Turkey's floating power plant, the Karadeniz Powership Rauf Bey, started electricity production in Sudan, a member of the Istanbul-based Karadeniz Energy Group, Karpowership, announced on May 22.

Turkish energy firms remain keen to invest in projects in African countries, but several obstacles, including political instability end up hurting their efforts, investors tell Anadolu Agency.

A ship launching ceremony in Tuzla, east of Istanbul has taken place on Nov.13.  Among the ships to launched, there were giants that are 300 meters in length and 50 meters in width. 

Turkey's Karadeniz will in the next two weeks begin supplying Zambia with electricity from a power-generating ship as it looks to take advantage of chronic shortages in Africa, the company said on March 2.

Karadeniz builds what are effectively floating power stations which plug into electricity grids after berthing. They run on fuel oil but can also use natural gas.

Ghanaian government officials have welcomed a Turkish power ship which is expected to generate some 225 megawatts of electricity to augment the country's energy needs.
