Drug runners arrested in Kastoria and Thesprotia

Police in Kastoria, northern Greece, on Thursday announced the confiscation of 68.8 kilograms of hashish after a car being driven by a 45-year-old foreign national was stopped and inspected.
The man was arrested by border guards on Wednesday after a check on the vehicle turned up four rucksacks containing 57 packages of the drug.

Gastroenteritis spike in Kastoria prompts KEELPNO public warning

More than 400 cases of gastroenteritis have been reported in the region of Kastoria in northern Greece so far this year, according to the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (KEELPNO).

Laboratory tests on stool samples have shown that the gastroenteritis was caused by a virus.

Police in Kozani make large drug bust

Police in the northern Greek city of Kozani seized more than 200 kilograms of unrefined hash and arrested four men, according to authorities on Monday.

Working on a tip, police stopped a car and its 25-year-old driver on Sunday and found 208.58 kilograms of hash. They arrested the driver and his 32-year-old passenger, a foreign national.

Fur fair kicks off in northern Greece

The 43rd edition of the Kastoria International Fur Fair, the top annual event for the local fur fashion industry, kicked off in northern Greece on Thursday, as local furriers turn to new markets struggling to survive after the financial crisis.

During the four-day event, 123 exhibitors from 13 countries will explore business opportunities with buyers from 43 countries.
