The International Monitoring Operation, IMO, on Saturday condemned a plan by Albania's High Council of Prosecutors to return to office Besnik Cani, a former prosecutor fired by the vetting process, who won a partial victory in the European Court of Human Rights.

The Kastrati Group has given up a sales contract worth 2.37 million euros to buy 60 per cent of Euronews Albania television and has returned its shares to the station's previous owner, Theodhoro Çami.

On July 6, the parties agreed by mutual consent to cancel the April 11 contract and have no further claims against each other.

Powerful, politically-connected businessman Shefqet Kastrati has entered Albania's crowded media market with the purchase on Monday of Euronews Albania, following in the footsteps of Samir Mane who bought TV SCAN last month.

The newly elected board of the Kosovo public broadcaster, Radio Television of Kosovo, RTK, has dismissed Ngadhnjim Kastrati as director for not performing his duties effectively and for violating RTK law.

The police moved against Golden Complex after discovering that Jan Prenga, a 49 year-old Albanian, had been killed in the basement of the resort having being kidnapped during an international drug trafficking dispute. The police obtained a video showing Prenga's body, but it had gone by the time they moved in and has still to be found.

Shkodra local Kastrati was arrested in Denmark, where he goes by the name Sokol Krasniqi, in June 2019 during an operation codenamed Goldfinger involving some 30 people accused of trafficking at least 1.65 tonnes of cocaine from the Netherlands to Denmark and Sweden.

Local mayors in the divided town of Mitrovica are to appeal to the Koosvo government to intervene after the four-year dispute over land rights in Kroi i Vitakut, an Albanian-majority neighbourhood in a Serb-dominated area of the municipality, boiled over again in recent weeks.

The EU rule-of-law mission to Kosovo, EULEX, said Elmi Kastrati and Besnik Kastrati had been convicted for having “facilitated the prostitution of a number of Serbian women and compelled the prostitution of one Albanian woman”.

EULEX said that the events that took place in Hotel Troja, Pristina, between February and April 2012.
