Regional airports temporarilly shutting down for upgrades
Some regional airports will shut down briefly and gradually between November 2024 and February 2025 for runway upgrades, manager Fraport Greece announced on Wednesday.
Lufthansa: Seven new Greek destinations this summer
Lufthansa is more than doubling its itinerary in Greece with the addition of seven brand new destinations for this summer. From May 21, 2021, Aktio, Chania, Corfu, Kavala, Kos, Mykonos, and Zakynthos will welcome the German air carrier for the first time. This is Lufthansa's largest increase in its 62 years of presence in Greece.

Fraport Greece reported a 71.4% annual decline in passenger traffic last year at the 14 regional airports it operates in Greece.
TAIPED heralds new privatization projects

Tourist traffic rises 8-9 pct in Q1
Tourist traffic data for 2019 is looking rather good, as Fraport Greece announced a first-quarter year-on-year rise of 8.2 percent at its regional airports, though this is attributed mainly to domestic rather than foreign travelers.

Bad weather prompts flight cancellations in Thessaloniki airport
Low-lying clouds led to flight cancellations and delays to Thessaloniki's Makedonia airport on Thursday, according to airport manager Fraport Greece.
Fraport demands 70 million euros in compensation from Greek state
According to a report in German newspaper Spiegel report Fraport, the company that bought out 14 Greek regional airports is seeking financial compensation amounting to 70 million euros by the Greek state due the condition the airport terminals were in.
FRAPORT: “We found 12.000 burned out bulbs in the 14 regional airports”!
Apparently the Greek Civil Aviation Authority had left the 14 regional airports in the darkness. Therefore, when the German-Greek consortium FRAPORT took over last April, they found a total of 12.000 burned out bulbs in the fourteen regional airports.
Significant rise in arrivals at Greek regional airports
The number of arrivals at the 14 regional airports managed by the consortium led by Germany's Fraport has risen significantly so far this year.
Brussels clears regional airport privatization
The European Commission has approved the transfer of 14 Greek airports to a German-led consortium and says it's now up to Greece to finalize the deal, a key element of the country's bailout program.
The Commission says the 1.23-billion-euro agreement can go ahead as it did not involve state aid, was transparent and in line with market conditions.
