AKP, CHP move to become intervening parties in coup attempt case
The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) have requested to become intervening parties in the case in which top soldiers are on trial over events at the General Staff Headquarters on the night of the July 15, 2016 coup attempt.
US Embassy confirms call to key coup attempt figure in line with cooperation with Turkish officials
The United States Embassy to Turkey has confirmed the occurrence of a call from the U.S. Consulate General in Istanbul to a phone belonging to fugitive coup attempt suspect Adil Öksüz on July 21, 2016, as stated in an indictment prepared by a Turkish court. The embassy said the call was part of law enforcement cooperation with Turkish officials to stop Öksüz from fleeing the country.
Top judicial body sends file on prime coup plotter suspect to parliamentary commission
The Turkish High Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) has sent a file on Adil Öksüz, one of the prime suspects of the July 15 coup attempt who was released shortly after his detention, to the parliamentary commission formed to investigate the thwarted coup.
Factory blast kills three in Turkish capital
At least three workers have been killed and two wounded in a blast at a cement factory near Ankara.
The blast erupted in the Kazan district of the Turkish capital late on May 24 as workers were trying to repair a malfunctioning raw material boiler, according to a statement from Kazan Mayor Lokman Ertürk.
