Unified public transport card set to launch in Istanbul
A new project designed to unify public transportation across the country under a single card system is set to begin partial implementation in Istanbul, with plans to expand the program nationwide.
The Türkiye Card rollout in Istanbul follows an Oct. 31 decision by the megacity's transportation coordination center UKOME.
Historic railway listed among Europe's top rail routes
Renowned travel guide Lonely Planet has named Istanbul's Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme railway line as one of Europe's must-see rail routes.

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality is set to build 28 transport tunnels across major parts of the city, amounting to 145 kilometers in length and expected to be completed by 2023, pro-government daily Yeni Şafak reported on Oct. 27.
Istanbul municipality to launch tender for air rail
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) will launch a tender for an air rail system to link two rapidly developing urban areas on the European side of the city.
The open tender for the Başakşehir-Halkalı route will be held on Nov. 14, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Oct. 20.
Istanbul's Eurasia Tunnel opens for test drive
An underwater tunnel that will considerably shorten the duration of travel for vehicles from Istanbul's Asian side to the European one will be tested on Oct. 8, with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expected to take a test drive in the tunnel with an official car, daily Sabah reported Oct. 7.
Asphalt work for the tunnel was completed before the first passage.
