Thermal cameras installed in kindergartens at southeast Attica municipality

Thermal cameras that can detect students' fever have been installed in kindergartens and primary schools at the Lavreotiki municipality, the local authority said on Friday.

These cameras were procured in the context of establishing an effective system of prevention measures against the coronavirus, the municipality added.

Robbers blow up ATM in Koufalia

Unidentified assailants used a explosive device to blow open an ATM outside a supermarket in Koufalia, northwest of Thessaloniki in northern Greece, early on Friday.
Police are seeking the perpetrators who are believed to have fled with an undetermined sum from the cash machine.

Coastal resort town in Attica evacuated due to fire

Municipal authorities evacuated the seaside residential town of Lagonisi in southwestern Attica on Saturday after a fire broke out in the area shortly after 1 p.m.
The fire service said the blaze was burning dry grass and bushe, adding "there is no immediate danger" for the houses in the area. A large unit of 30 firemen were dispatched along with two water-dropping aircraft.

Bodies of 2 missing men found in creek

Greece's fire service says the bodies of two men missing since a downpour on Thursday have been found separately in a creek southeast of Athens.

The two men, 67 and 64 years old, along with the older man's wife, had set out from Keratea, a town about 45 kilometers (28 miles) southeast of Athens, in the pouring rain. The 64-year-old had volunteered to drive the couple to go shopping.

Dinosaur Exhibit | June 16 - July 30

The Cultural Park in Keratea, east of Athens, presents an educational outdoor exhibition on the dinosaurs and the Ice Age that was put together in cooperation with experts from Thessaloniki's Aristotle University. Running from June 16 to July 30, the exhibition comprises dinosaur models and guided tours (in Greek).
