Farmers expected to block trucks at two border crossings on Thursday

Farmers protesting about soaring production costs and compensation payments are expected to block trucks in two border posts in northern Greece on Thursday, as they continue their mobilizations.

Tractors and protesters will line the road in front of the Niki border crossing with North Macedonia, located outside the town of Florina, and Kipi, which leads to the border with Turkey.

Woman arrested at Greek-Turkish border with heroin hidden in pillowcases

A woman was arrested on Thursday after officers at the Kipi Border Station in northeastern Greece found more than 9 kilograms of heroin hidden in her personal belongings.

The drugs were divided in 34 nylon packages and hidden in striped pillowcases in a suitcase placed in the trunk of a taxi, with which she attempted to enter from Turkey.

Foreign national wanted in Azerbaijan arrested at Greek-Turkish border

A foreign national who is being sought by the authorities in Azerbaijan for numerous crimes was arrested by policemen at the Kipi border post on Sunday, as he tried to enter the country.
The 42-year-old man is wanted for fraud, violating the privacy of correspondence, breach of privacy, blackmail and computer hacking, state-run news agency ANA-MPA reported.

More than 1,000 ancient coins seized from Turkish man at border crossing

Customs officials at the Kipi border post seized more than 1,000 ancient Greek coins on Tuesday from a Turkish national who was crossing into Greece by bus.

Authorities said that he had packed 1,055 coins in seven plastic water bottles wrapped in tape and placed at the bottom of his bag.
