Bled – A high-profile panel on cooperation in the Adriatic Sea as part of the Bled Strategic Forum (BSF) revolved around the emerging exclusive economic zones (EEZ) and cooperation of the Slovenian, Croatian and Italian ports.
Police break up migrant smuggling ring
Koper – The police have uncovered a criminal ring that has been smuggling migrants from Bosnia through Croatia and Slovenia to Italy. According to the Koper Police Department, the ring consisted of six members – four Slovenians, one Kosovo national and one national of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

First cruise since 2019 expected in Koper
Koper – The Sea Dream, a luxury yacht-style cruise ship, will dock in Koper on Friday, the first cruise ship to visit Slovenia’s largest coastal city since 2019. The Sea Dream will bring around 50 passengers to Koper, mostly from the US and England.

Koper police help migrants caught in a storm
Koper – Koper police on Wednesday helped a group of migrants caught in a storm, and pulled over a van with eleven illegal migrants in south-western Slovenia, the Koper Police Department said on Thursday.
Police received a phone call from an Afghan citizen who said that a group of migrants was caught in a storm “somewhere in the hills”.

Huawei setting up logistic hub for central, SE Europe in Slovenia
Ljubljana – Chinese company Huawei plans to set up a regional logistic hub in Slovenia for some 19 markets of central and south-eastern Europe. Thus, the flow of its goods through the port of Koper will increase and new storage facilities will need to be built near Ljubljana airport. The multiplicative value of the decision is dozens of millions of euros.
Koper port expects 41 cruise ships this year
Koper – The Koper cruise terminal is expecting 41 cruise ships with around 61,000 passengers this year, out of the initially planned 88 with around 130,000 passengers.

New maritime traffic control centre opens in Koper
Koper – A new centre for maritime traffic control and management in crisis situations was inaugurated in Koper on Friday in what is a project that is expected to greatly improve navigation safety in the Slovenian territorial waters and decrease risk of accidents by as much as 70%.

Slovenia to host major mathematics event in June
Koper – The University of Primorska will host the 8th European Congress of Mathematics (8ECM), one of the major events in the field, in the coastal town of Portorož between 20 and 26 June. The congress will be held mostly online due to the epidemiological situation, said the university.

Serbian businessman buys airport in Slovenia
Kosctc is the owner of the Serbian company MK Group.
According to the Slovenian newspaper, the Port of Koper in late 2018 sold an additional 15 percent stake in the airport to Hotel Palace Portoroz - owned by Kostic - handing the Serbian businessman a stake of slightly over 53 percent.
