Kosovo citizens will be able travel freely to the EU's passport-free Schengen zone by the start of 2024 after European Parliament members approved the removal of the visa regime on Tuesday.

Kosovo passport holders will be able to travel to the EU without visas for 90 days in any 180-day period.

For a decade, Serbian citizens resident in Kosovo have been treated differently from other Serbian citizens when it comes to passports and residence papers, leading to complaints of discrimination.

A total of 5,481 people had renounced their Kosovo citizenship in 2018, a majority of them now living in Germany, Austria and Slovenia.

Kosovan Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, who is well known for making inflammatory statements regarding Serbian territory, has again instigated tension by offering Kosovan citizenship to ethnic Albanian residents of southern Serbia.

Kosovo has expelled a Russian and a Ukrainian journalist on Friday after police found them in the country without visas.

Persons traveling with Kosovo passports can enter the Russian Federation only in special cases and in order to participate in sporting events.

This has been announced by the Russian embassy in Belgrade.

Greece, Kosovo co-operate despite non-recognition status

Greece now applies Schengen visas on Kosovo passports and the two countries' chambers of commerce concluded an agreement to improve commercial ties.
