Kottarashky

Nikola Gruev-Kottarashky is a musician and composer who fuses original recordings.

He personally defines his style as "Balkan psychedelic", but critics consider him as part of the "Balkan beat wave". 

The Bulgarian stands a real chance of winning the BBC Songlines Remix Competition.

Kottarashky are the first Bulgarian musicians to enter the selection of artists at the prestigious Francofolies de la Rochelle, France, and will be on stage on July 14 this year, a national holiday of the country.

The British trip-hop sensation MORCHEEBA and the Italians The Sweet Life Society will be the headliners of the LoveHange Music Festival in Lovech! The event will take place on 2 and 3 September in the former Barracks Park, reported ViewSofia. 

Blind Vaysha, directed by Bulgarian Theodore Ushev and based on a story by renowned writer Georgi Gospodinov, is one of the five titles in the Academy Awards' Animated Short Film category.

The 89th Oscars will be handed out on February 26 in Los Angeles, with La La Land tipped to scoop a number of awards, having been nominated in 14 categories, including best picture.

A short animation directed by Theodore Ushev, using Georgi Gospodinov's story Blind Vaysha was included in the list of top 10 proposals, one of which will be selected for Oscar nominations 2017, according to WebCafe.

The movie is part of the book And other stories (Writings from an Unbound Europe) (2001), translated into German, English, Italian and others.

Kottarashky & The Rain Dogs are the Bulgarian band listed at the upcoming EXIT Festival. The fifteenth consecutive edition of the Balkan festival will be held July 9 to 12 at the Petrovaradinsk fortress in Novi Sad, Serbia.

The Bulgarian band will perform at the EXIT Fusion Stage.
