The Rain Flooded Sofia

Sofia was another Bulgarian town where the rainy storm triggered a drama. Metro, malls, office buildings, shops, subways have been underwater this afternoon. Boulevards turned into rivers, the water at junctions was almost a meter in height, cars and buses from public transport flooded. The electricity was cut off in several neighborhoods.

Bulgarian Cabinet Allocates BGN 119 M to Infrastructure Projects

At its regular meeting on Wednesday, the Bulgarian government approved additional expenses to the budget of the regional ministry for 2016 amounting to slightly over BGN 119 M.

The funds will be allocated for preventive maintenance of the road network mainly in northern Bulgaria, repair works and the completion of road infrastructure projects across the country.

Construction of Sofia Metro's Third Line to Begin in Spring

Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova has announced that work on the third subway line of Bulgaria's capital is to start in the spring of 2016.

In an interview with the Bulgarian National Television, she has warned this will cause traffic disruptions across the capital, with locations of new metro stations (or connections to existing lines) set on a number of venues in downtown Sofia.

BGN 270,000 Allocated to Football Fields in Roma Neighborhood

Five months prior to the local elections, the Sofia municipality of Krasno Selo decided to construct two mini football fields in the heart of the Roma neighborhood Fakulteta.

They will also be equipped with specialized watering systems and artificial turf, as per all FIFA requirements, LED lights and all necessary nets. Additionally, there will be 180 seats available for audience.
