The ancient Greek city of Phanagoria in Taman Peninsula, located in the Krasnodar region in the south of Russia, is estimated to be about 2,500 years old. It was first discovered thanks to a tombstone that washed up in the 18th century.

He was soon back in action for his team of former pros and businessmen for the match in at the Bolshoy Ice Dome in the city of Sochi, which hosted the Winter Olympics in 2014.
Russian Cargo Ship Has Sunk in the Black Sea
Russian cargo ship with a crew of 12 people has sunk in the Black Sea. This was announced by TASS, citing the representation of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Krasnodar region. The ship "Heroes Arsenal" was sailing under a Panamanian flag from Azov to Turkey and sank near the town of Kerch.

Two Skiers Killed in Avalanche at Sochi Resort
Two skiers were killed after a massive avalanche swept down a slope at the Russian mountain resort used for the Sochi Olympics the day after it opened to the public.
An 80 cubic meter avalanche struck at Sochi's Rosa Khutor ski resort on Sunday, burying six skiers on the 'Labyrinth' slope, Interfax news agency reports.
