The Turkish and Malaysian trade ministers signed on July 13 a joint declaration to expand the existing free trade agreement (FTA) between the two countries.

The trip between Singapore and the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur is the world's busiest international air route, with more than 30,500 flights between the cities in the year to February, a new study showed.

Turkish defense companies will attend Defense Services Asia, held in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur between April 16 and 19, the Turkish defense body said on April 15.

Turkish writer Mustafa Akyol stated on Sept. 26 that he was detained by police in Malaysia for 18 hours before being released. 

"It is true. Thank God I am now free after 18 hours in detention. Thanks so much to all who helped, supported, and prayed," Akyol tweeted on Sept. 26.

At least 25 people, most of them youngsters, died in a fire in a religious Islamic boarding school in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, reports BBC.
