The western town of Nova Gorica hosted bobbin and needle lace-makers from 26 countries for the World Lace Congress over the past weekend. This is the second time that Slovenia, a country with a long tradition of the craft, hosted this largest global event celebrating lace.

Flowers will be in the centre of this year's festival, as florists from ten countries will showcase their flower-and-lace decorations on the streets of Idrija over the weekend.

Ahlin caught the attention of media and design experts after designing a lace wall made of 1.2 kilometres of hemp rope, for Stix Restaurant, a New York City Mediterranean restaurant.
